In March 2010 the government announced their Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) proposal. One of the key aims of this project was to provide high speed internet to rural areas such as Southland & Fiordland.
This project is ongoing and uses 3G & 4G Broadband Extended technology from cellular providers. It’s available wherever a signal can be received from the nearest upgraded cell tower.
This is a much cheaper, faster and more reliable alternative to Satellite Internet in terms of cost and quite often can be quicker even to the traditional landline based internet in towns.
Southtechare proud to be the Southland installation agents for Unifone Rural Broadband. We recommend Unifone as your internet supplier anywhere around Southland and Fiordland as speeds can be reached in excess of 20mbps.
